This experimental sculpture collection entitled Nostalgia was inspired by different design principles such as negative space, focal point, texture, and repetition. My intent was to visually represent these principles in different ways with at least 3 materials. However, I wanted to focus on texture for all three sculptures to see how far I could stretch different materials to create interesting textures. I decided to use masking tape as a material in two sculptures. It ended up creating two really different coming from the same material. I felt the work was missing an element so I added color in different ways to all of them to help complete each sculpture. I want to keep exploring different materials with innovation in mind. This piece allowed me to explore using different design principles to create something and I would like to learn about and explore more ways to visually represent these principles in my work.
